Well once again I did not have time to practice much before my lesson. This week sadly I may have only gathered up around 20 minutes of practice time and that took place right before I went to my lesson. Uh-oh. Hopefully things are going to slow down from here though. I finally got moved to my new place and I asked my manager to cut my hours in half so if all goes correctly. I will have a day of the week I can finally dedicate to practicing the guitar.
In this weeks lesson, we learned how to string our guitars thanks to someone in the class coming in with a broken string. Than we went back through the beginning of the song book and practiced the first songs we learned and than continued into the second weeks songs. We went back through and practiced all our chord exercises, which consists of just trying to gain speed going from chord to chord. I have actually improved somehow since last week, but I am still not as good. The remainder of the class is being to split apart, there is the ones who you can tell have a lot of time to practice and they are getting real good at these speed exercises by now and than there is the other half who are in the same boat as me who are struggling to just keep their heads floating each week. I am not worried though I mean I have the rest of my life ahead of me, with time I'll find time to get good. I have no plans of being a superstar anytime soon. We did play a few new beginnings of songs this week, Man of Constant Sorrow, Long Journey Home, Ill Fly Away, and Rising Sun Blues. I don't do to bad at playing these simple songs but when it comes to trying to get speed my fingers are having a hard time finding out where to go.
From this review we than ended the class learning two more chords, D minor and F. D minor is very similar to D so no big deal with that really. But F is a whole different story. It is quite difficult because yo have to hold down two strings with one finger. From here he left us to take what knowledge we gained in class and practice, practice, practice. Well here it is the end of the week and I still have not found any free time to practice. Hopefully before I go into work today I can gather up, hopefully, 30 minutes of play. So here I go........
